It's taken a little longer to get these tracks uploaded, but here are the first batch of Jam tracks from NOiZE at SoundLab from the Beautiful Octopus Club on the 6th of September.
Each track here was recorded exactly as it was performed with no changes to it at all in the upload. Hope you enjoy them!
This is the the moment when we knew the workshop had begun! It was great to see such a mix of ages trying out the Ototo board from Dentaku. From our testing we think the Ototo has great potential, as it is both affordable, highly flexible and can be used for a wide range of performance styles.
Just a few of the pictures from SoundLab at the Beautiful Octopus Club on Saturday Night. We had so many people come along and make music when they'd never done anything like this before. It was great to see.
Over the next few days we'll be posting more photos, videos and thoughts on what we learnt from this amazing event.
Today is a busy day, that's an understatement. To start with today we're off to the awesome Music Tech Fest to start off the hack challenge that we're setting for the 24 hour hack. The challenge has been very generously supported by a prize being given by FXpansion, who are offering £1,000 of their software to the winner.
We're really looking forward to seeing what comes out of the hack challenge and some of the amazing things that can get produced at events like this. So expect to see some really interesting stuff over the next few days as we show you what got made.
Later today SoundLab will be at the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank as part of Heart n Soul's Beautiful Octopus Club. We are going to have just so much to show today that it's going to be a truly awesome event.
But one of the highlights is the Maschine Mikros from Native Instruments that we'll have for you to play with.
So come and play tonight from 7pm at the Festival Hall. We're going to have fun!
Another great company we're working with tomorrow is Mogees. Mogees lets you transform everyday objects into musical instruments.
Interested in how? Come along tomorrow at the Royal Festival Hall from 7pm. The Mogees workshop will start at around 8:30pm. It's bound to be amazing.
Well tomorrow is going to be a really big day for SoundLab. We'll be at the Beautiful Octopus Club from 7pm and we have just so much to show you. To start off with we have Dentaku who make the amazing Ototo board.
Dentaku will be bringing along a load of their Ototos and plenty of fun stuff to connect to it as well. If you want to see what Ototo can do take a look at the video below.
Ototo will be available to play with in our workshop space from 7pm until 8:30pm tomorrow, the 6th of September at the Royal Festival Hall. Give it a try, it's great fun.
The last couple of times we've taken SoundLab out into the big world the things that people love playing with the most have been our wonderful Moog Thereminis, and of course when we were at the Liberty Festival everyone just fell in love with the AlphaSphere, and indeed, why wouldn't you.
But what you might not see behind the scenes is what actually makes all of our Digital Band tick. The technology that just keeps everything running, and that's Ableton Live. Ableton is the powerhouse behind our Digital Band, and without it the whole thing just wouldn't work at all.
So if you come to see us on Saturday at the Beautiful Octopus Club, remember that it wouldn't be nearly as much fun without Ableton being the engine behin
