He's a very prolific writer, producing a song per session, creating his own unique production style using interlocking rhythmic layers, unusual melodies and very catchy hooks to create his compositions. He's working towards producing an album of tracks and performing live more, with a few recent appearances at Squidz Club and DIY Space For London already under his belt.
One of his recent songs is called "I Love You", which you can hear below, and if you click to read more we will run down a few of the techniques he used to create it!
He then has two basslines - one that creates melodic progression within the track and the other which follows the rhythm of the kicks and snares to enhance them. You can see Kishaun playing around writing this part on the Roland Aira TB-3 below -
The other two major things in the song are - the extra vocal in the chorus which is just Kishaun's voice pitched up an octave (12 steps) using the transpose function in Ableton, and the outro which was improvised on a keyboard's string setting as Kishaun wanted a soft emotional ending. We then sampled this to create the intro and Kishaun freestyled all his vocals in one take!
At the rate Kishaun is recording songs the K-Dog Generation album will be finished very soon!
