Heart n Soul's SoundLab
1. What is SoundLab?
Heart n Soul's SoundLab aims to find simple and effective ways to help people with learning disabilities to express themselves musically and collaborate with other people using readily available musical technologies. We want to show how technologies can be brought together and combined to allow users new ways to make music.
Here is short video that gives a flavour of the SoundLab approach.
3. Who is SoundLab?
SoundLab is run by Heart n Soul and is a collaboration between musicians and participants at Heart n Soul and people from the world of music technology.
Heart n Soul is widely acknowledged as a leader in the field of inclusive practice, creating space for artists with and without learning disabilities to come together and make high quality work. SoundLab works with a wide range of participants to develop new ways of making music together.
2. What does SoundLab do?
We test and evaluate all kinds of musical technologies to work out which are the easiest to use, sound the best and can be used by people with learning disabilities to make the music they want to make.
We deliver creative sessions using those technologies to help people make music and sounds and find out how best people and technology can come together.
We have created a guide for musical facilitators across the world, to help them use what we have learnt and create great digital music making experiences in their own communities.
